Paleolithic Poster
In our Social Study class, we had to create a poster that gives information about Paleolithic or Neolithic. I have chosen the Paleolithic/Old Age Stone to work on.

Differences between Paleolithic and Neolithic
- The difference on food resources is that: Paleolithic hunters and gatherers find food such as Meat, Fish and Berries and they can only store what they can carry. Neolithic grew crops like corn, wheat and beans and they could store extra food.
- The difference on their habitat: Paleolithic huts are made from cave mud and Animal skin. Neolithic huts are made from mud brick with timber.
- The difference on their discoveries: Paleolithic discoveries are fire and rough stone tools. Neolithic discoveries are agriculture (farming) and polished tools.

Are Students addicted to their phones? Is it a problem?
Are students addicted to their phones? Is it a problem?
I feel that students or teenagers can be addicted to their phones. Being on your phone with a long period of time can be a problem, because it can affect your life or even your personality and it can cause you a damage on your brain. For example, being in social media while on class such as instagram, facebook, twiiter etc. Another example is watching videos while doing homework that can distract you on doing the task. Final example is that you go on your phone rather than talking and having a bond with your family at home. This is why I feel students or teenagers can be addicted to their phones.

Maori Music for a Modern Audience
WAIRUA
WAIRUA is a pop song performed by the Maimoa Music group that is made of 12 artists; Pere Wihongi, Tawaroa Kawana, Puawai Taiapa, Hoeata Maxwell-Blake, Mereana Teka, Awatea Wihongi, Nathaniel Howe, Raniera Blake, Makaira Berry, Te Awhina Kaiwai-Wanikau, Metotagivake Shmidt-Peke, Kia Kaaterama Kiri-Pou.
They wrote the song to inspire the future generation.
The music is just too wonderful to be heard. The beat and the voices are too great, and I feel like singing it even though I don't know what the song is all about. You will enjoy singing it when you understand the message of the song.
The music video is very creative and entertaining. You can see each member of the group participating and they have their own part in the video. I like how active they are in the video.

"It is your SPIRIT - may it spread around the world
It is your SOUL - let it fly and soar
A subtle means of inspiration and spiritual flow that can guide you to your full potential"
The song is about encouraging ones belief in their natural instinct or spirit, we call 'wairua'. At times of adversity and hardship, it's that very natural instinct that will direct you. It's by trusting in that 'wairua' you will reach your full potential, so let your 'wairua' soar.

Matariki
Matariki is the Maori name for a group of seven stars known as the Pleiades star cluster. In New Zealand it comes into view low on the north-eastern horizon, appearing in the tail of the Milky Way in the last days of May or in early June, just before dawn. This heralds the Maori New Year.
Matariki begins to rise in the last few days of May, and this symbolises the coming of the Maori New Year. Some iwi, or tribes, start celebrations when Matariki is first seen, however it is the first new moon after Matariki that officially signals the Maori New Year. Many of these traditional celebrations are still practiced today, however there are many others ways that Matariki is celebrated also. Most celebrations focus around music, song, dance, food and family, and celebrations can last up to 3 days.
Matariki crop planting
The coming season’s crops were planted according to the portents read in the Matariki star cluster. If the stars were clear and bright, it was a sign that a favorable and productive season lay ahead, and planting would begin in September. If the stars appeared hazy and closely bunched together, a cold winter was in store and planting was put off until October.
"Matariki atua ka eke mai i te rangi e roa,
E whāngainga iho ki te mata o te tau e roa e.
"Divine Matariki come forth from the far-off heaven,
Bestow the first fruits of the year upon us.
Matariki harvest
Matariki happened at the end of harvesting, when food stores were plentiful. The variety of food which had been gathered and preserved ensured an abundant supply for feasting – Matariki was an important time for festivity. Women rejoiced, sang and danced to celebrate the change of season and new beginnings. Often kites (pākau) were flown – they were thought to get close to the stars.
"Ngā kai a Matariki, nāna i ao ake ki runga.
"The foods of Matariki, by her scooped up.
How Has Technology Change the Way We Do Things
Hi everyone! Today I am going to blog about How Did Technology Change the Way We Do Things.
Technology has not been only contributing to our lives but changing the way we live. Technology improves how we live today because it makes people work easier these days. Back in the old times, people are struggling to do things on their own. For example, Technology has changed the way we communicate with each other. We can send them a message for just only a minute, back in the days you have to write your message and send it to them by the mailbox that could take days, weeks or months. Another example is Technology change the way we learn, we can now go on the internet and search up what we need, then it can give you the answer straight away. In the olden times, you have to read a bunch of books just to find the answers. Also, Technology changes the way we travel, we have cars to ride on these days that can quickly take you to a place, you can even listen to music while traveling. Back in the old days, people used to travel by riding on a horse cart, and this could be dangerous because the horse can go wild and lose control, that can lead you to danger. There are lots of ways Technology can change the way we live, it was made to make life easier and enjoyable.

Term 1 Reflection
For this school year, Term 1 has been good and fun for me. I learned a lot of new things in every day that I go to school. I did well for participating and sometimes finishing the task that we are doing in class. In times that we have a test or exam, I review at home and recall what we have studied. I attained to have high scores and it is enough for me to be more motivated.
What could I have done better?
Sometimes, it's hard for me to focus on what I am doing. I could have managed my time doing the task and ignored the distractions that are distracting me. In class. I rarely speak up when the teacher is asking us a question about the lesson because I think that my answer may be wrong. I could have shared my ideas instead of keeping it to myself. Then I realized that it's alright to make mistake because that's how you learn.
What will I do next?
To improve my learning, I will avoid the things that are distracting me and be more focused to do the task that we are given. I will also gain more confidence to share my thoughts and to be productive in class.
