Makey Makey

Introduction:
Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog! I am here to share what we've been learning in DTE for the last two weeks of term 3. We were given a task to create something that a person can control using other materials and the Makey Makey.

Makey Makey is a device that turn the everyday objects into touch pads and combine them with the internet. How does it work?...Makey Makey works through opening and closing circuit. The circuit is closed through a conductive object (wires, tinfoil, & yourself) that you connect with alligator clips.

DLO:
To play a game, we chose to make a controller. The controller that we did was quite different compared to a typical one. Our controller have similar features as the ordinary controller, but ours is in the shape of heart.

Reflection:
If you can remember from the past projects that we did, we are still in the same group. What we planned is to put foil at the bottom of the controller and use one wire to make it work. But that planned didn't go well so we asked Mr. Carter for his opinion on how we can make it work.

With his opinion, we were able to think of a new way on how will the controller work. Then we came up to this idea (cut small squares of tinfoil enough to cover the hole & cut short wires enough to fit inside and tape it in the foil) for the inside. For the outside/front view, we decided to cover the hole with clay since it's conductor.

The next step that we are suppose to do is fix the wires inside and put the Makey Makey in, design it and use it. It's a little sad that we didn't finish and play with it, but we at least tried to managed our time working on it.

Resources:
     Materials we used:
  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Pencil
  • Tinfoil
  • Wires
  • Clay

Question:
If you are about to create something with Makey Makey, what will it do? Can it also play a game like a controller?
