Hector Zeroni

Hector Zeroni

This is about the friendship of Hector Zeroni and Stanley Yelnats. This will show you the importance of friendship that no matter what you did to each other, you will be still friends in the end.

Hector Zeroni was a character in the novel‘Holes’ and he is also the deuteragonist of ‘Holes’. Hector was a homeless boy and he constantly had to steal in order to provide for himself. At that age, he didn’t even understand stealing was wrong, but he only took what he needed. At a young age, his mother Mrs. Zeroni accidentally left him at Laney Park. So Hector lived on his own his whole life, never attending school and therefore never learning how to read. One day, Hector stole a pair of Clyde Livingston’s shoes from a homeless shelter’s auction. He threw the shoes over the overpass and they landed on Stanley Yelnats IV who was subsequently arrested. Hector was arrested the next day for stealing a pair of shoes from Wal-Mart. When Hector arrived at Camp Green Lake, he was placed in D-Tent and received the nickname Zero because of his lack of intelligence

When Stanley arrived at Camp Green Lake he haven´t got any friends. He was alone and helpless. Then he met the others from Group D. X-Ray, Armpit, Squid, Zigzag, Magnet and at least Zero. Since the beginning Zero was very closed and didn't talked very much. You could almost say, he would be inconspicuous. Stanley was the only, who took contact to him. Stanley extract some secrets out of him. Zero never tells anyone that he can not write. I think it´s very hard to say something like this, because someone could laugh about this. Stanley was friendly to him and they made a deal: Zero should dig Stanley´s holes and Stanley is teaching Zero the writing. Zero is very thankful about this and I think this is very good for their friendship. Now they began to trust each other. They keep each other. I think it was luck that Stanley found in the wasteland to Zero. When Zero is went, Stanley was very sad about this.

After being released from Camp Green Lake, Hector went to stay with Stanley. While at Stanley's house, they decided half of the items in that chest go to Hector. Hector then used this money to hire a team of Private Investigators to find his mother, then they found Zero's mom and he went home safely. He got to meet his hero Clyde Livingston and told him that he stole the shoes and Stanley didn't. After being released from Camp Green Lake, Hector went to stay with Stanley. In this part of the book you can see how big was their friendship. Stanley gives everything to help Zero, because Zero is at the end of his power. Stanley tried to find water for him and similar. Then Stanley found out, that Zero have stolen the sneakers from Clyde Livingston and thrown them from the bridge. But I think when Stanley didn't come to Camp Green Lake he wouldn´t know Zero. Also there is any connection between Stanley and “Hector Zeroni”, because of the past from Stanley's great-great grandfather.

Paper Bridges

🌉Paper Bridges🌉

Identify what you did - We built our second paper bridge.

Describe the process The first bridge that we did collapse because it’s not strong enough and we didn’t fold the paper. As we were building our second bridge, we folded the paper which gave strength to our bridge and we put a stand in the bottom of our second bridge. We tried to put things in both of the bridge such as scissor and book, and we found out that the second bridge was stronger than the first bridge.

Why did you build a bridge - We are doing this for our Geometry in our math class and how Geometry works in our daily life especially for engineers and architects.

Just So You Know Script/Monologue

Just So You Know

Why do you have to be such a loser to me all the time? You literally treat me like a dirt. It’s like we’re not even sisters. You never want to hang out and you’re always so mean to me, especially when you’re with your friends. God forbid I’m even in the same room with you when your friends stop over. You always tell me to leave. It’s my house too and I don’t have to go into another room just because you say so. Just because you are older doesn’t make you the boss of me.

You’re never there for me. Not even as a friend let alone sister. Seriously. You don’t even know who I am and we live together. It’s pathetic, really. It is.

I hope that one day you stop trying to be so cool and start treating me like someone you actually care about in your life. Nothing would be cooler and more important to me than that…just so you know.

Dirty Water Problem

Dirty Water Problems

Aim
I want to investigate how to filter dirty water and make it safe to drink.
Hypothesis
No hypothesis needed.
Equipment

  • dirty contaminated water
  • 3x funnels
  • stand
  • 3x clamps
  • pebbles
  • sand
  • cotton
  • charcoal
  • paper towel
  • Bunsen Burner
Method

1. Set up the funnels in a line on the stand using clamp to hold them in place.
In the top funnel, put a small wad of cotton and then fill with small pebbles.
3. In the middle funnel put a small wad of cotton and then fill with sand.
4. In the bottom funnel put a small wad of cotton and then fill with charcoal.
5. Place a cup under the bottom funnel to catch the water.
6. Pour the dirty water into the top funnel, be careful not to overfill the funnel.
7. Boil the filtrate (filtered water) for 2 minutes and let cool.

Results
The water still had a very "earthy" flavour to it but the water became more cleaner.

Discussion
The pebble filter was able to filter out all the big items like twigs, leaves, bark debris.
The sand filter filtered the small debris like the dissolved mud.
The charcoal filter was able to remove most of the "cloudiness".
I did end up using a 4th funnel where I used coffee filter paper. The filtrate was relatively clear.

Conclusion
This was an effective way of filtering although by the time the water had gotten to the last filter, the water was only dribbling through.

Kinds of Energy

Chemical Potential Energy -Energy that is stared in the bonds between atoms. Found in substances such as petrol and food.

Electrical Energy -The movement of electrically charged particles. Found in wires, generators and lightning.

Gravitational Potential Energy -Energy stored in objects due to their height above the ground.

Heat Energy -Caused by the movement of atoms. Found inside all hot objects.

Maui And The Sun

Maui And The Sun

1.) What did you think of the story?
I think the story is about Maui and his brothers wants the sun to move slowly.
2.) Explain why you think that.
It is because to make their life easier and so they can easily sleep, eat and hunt for a long time.
3.) What characters can you relate to?
Since I don't have any siblings, my cousins are considered to be my sister/brother. I think that the characters that I can relate to was Maui's brothers, because every time I ask for help to them, they do not hesitate to help me immediately.
