Fourth/Final Action Plan

FOURTH/FINAL ACTION PLAN

30th November 2017

Our fourth/final action was to give our donation to the Women's Refuge Org. staff, after she talked in front of us about Domestic Violence. We came across disabler when we had to organise where will she do it.

Proof of our fourth/final action

We feel that this was a good outcome. A group of people who are doing the same thing with us, contacted the same person that we talked to. So we've organised it together. What enabled us was the Yr. 9 students who are in the activity, listened to the speaker and didn't made a noise.

On reflection we think that this was a good way to informed the students and share our message about Domestic Violence. We've had finish all our actions now and we are now going to make a presentation about what we are doing for the past few weeks in PBL.

Third Action Plan

THIRD ACTION PLAN

29th November 2017

Our third action was a fundraising to give a donation for the victims of Domestic Violence. We came across a disabler when we didn't bring enough clothes to change with and when we got wet while doing the carwash.

Proof of our third action which is the car wash for our fundraising

We feel that this was a good outcome for our third action. We washed 12 cars and we raised a money from it, we didn't expect that it will just take us 2 hours. What enabled us is that Mrs. Toohey helped us organised when and where to do it.

On reflection we think that this was a good way to raise money and it was fun. We are excited to get on to our last action for this project.

Second Action Plan

SECOND ACTION PLAN

27th November 2017

Our second action was to contact the Women's Refuge Org. and ask them if they can support us in this project. We came across a disabler when they didn't respond to the message that we sent them on email. Therefore, we needed to call them on the phone and make sure that they will respond to it this time.

Proof of our second action which is contacting the Women's Refuge Org. by phone call

We feel that this was a good outcome for our second action. What enabled us is that they answered the phone when we called them. When talking to a person and asking for their support, it's hard to talk to them if you don't know what will you gonna say. We made a script so that when we talk to them we know what to say.

On reflection we think that it was a good way to ask help and support. We are excited to get on to our next action for this project.

First Action Plan

FIRST ACTION PLAN

29 November 2017

Our first action was to ask permission to our parents and to the school, if they can allow us to go outside the school fence and do our fundraising which is the car wash. We came across disablers when we had to go to the library and print the EOTC form, we also needed to bring home the one page of paper in a different day so that our parents can sign it.

Proof of our permission

We feel that this was a good outcome for our first action. What enabled us is that the teacher in-charge helped us fill up the EOTC form.

On reflection we think that filling up the form can make us easier to ask permission because it has the detail on it. We are now going to do our next action for this project.

Action Plans

What can we do?!

These are the action plans that we have created for our project focusing on helping people who are suffering from Domestic Violence in our community.

Steps needed to achieve the goal.
What will help us achieve this goal?(Enablers)
Possible barriers and how they could be overcome.
Who is responsible for this step?
Date this step will be achieved by.
We will do a carwash for our fundraising on 27th & 28th of November in Hornby Primary and we will go house to house carwash on 25th of November.

We will ask permission to our parents and in the school to allow us to go and do our fundraising.

We will have the equipment that we will be needing for this.

We will also give our best to explain so our parents and the school can allow us to go.

Our parents or the school might not allow us to go but we will keep on talking and we will explain to them why we need to go until they allow us to go.
Devie, Roanne, Thamhie, and Lahtia
The day we asked our parents and the school if we’re allowed to go.

We will going to send an email to the Women’s Refuge Org. to ask if they can support us in this project.

By working together as a team and getting things done.

If the Women’s Refuge Org. will not approve our action and they will not allow us to give our help to those who are suffering from Domestic Violence, we will keep on sending them an email.

Devie, Roanne, Thamhie, and Lahtia
The day when the women’s refuge organization approved our proposal.

We will now do our job which is the carwash in Hornby Primary and the house to house carwash outside the school.

We will going to knock the door and ask them if they need a carwash.
We need to have confidence to do this job and if there are some students/friends that want to help us do the fundraising, work will be a lot easier to do.

They might say no when we ask them but we will keep on going to talk to them until they allow us to do it.
Devie, Lahtia, Roanne, and Thamhie
Possible week 8

We will going to buy something for the victims by using the money that we collected from our fundraising.

After that, we are going to give the gifts to the victims of Domestic Violence with the help of the Women’s Refuge Org.
We need to be creative from the gifts that we will give to them.
If the Women’s Refuge Org. doesn’t want us to give our gifts to the victims personally, we will just give our gifts to the Women’s Refuge Org so that they can our gifts to them.
Devie, Lahtia, Roanne, and thamhie
When the gifts are ready to be distributed.

PBL Domestic Violence

At Hornby High School, we have been doing PBL (Project Base Learning). We've been asked how we can have a positive impact on our community? We formed a group called "LA.RO.T.VIE" that came from our names. These group inlcudes Me, Roanne, Lahtia and Thamhie. To do this first we had to choose a topic. Me and my group chose Domestic Violence because it is something that we think affects too many people, not just in our community but also in the whole world specially women. We would like to find some way to make a difference.

To help us understand Domestic Violence further we needed to find websites that gave us information on what is what and what you can do. Here is a list of the websites we found:

Website Name
Link
Date we accessed site
Abuse Hurts
13/11/17
Wikipedia
13/11/17
Women's Refuge

13/11/17
World Health Organization
13/11/17
New Zealand Police
13/11/17

We then had to answer some questions about our topic:
Who is affected: Women and men, Adolescents, and Children
What are the issues? Injured, sick, suicide, and negative impact on community
When did it start and how has it progressed? Prior to the mid-1800's, most legal systems viewed wife beating as a valid exercise of a husband’s authority over his wife. One exception, however, was the 1641 Body of Liberties of the Massachusetts Bay colonists, which declared that a married woman should be “free from bodily correction or stripes by her husband.”
Where is this happening? This happens worldwide.
Why is this happening? Domestic Violence is happening because of the build-up tensions and a breakdown in communication. Stress and state in life or poverty are one of the biggest reason why domestic violence happens.

Then we had to say what we plan to do to help solve the issue:

We will first contact Women's Refuge Organization to ask if there are some victims of Domestic Violence in Hornby. If there are some, we would like to persuade other students in our school to come with us. We can suggest Women's Refuge to perform that their education programmes here in Hornby.

Argumentative Writing Ideas

Is social media damaging to teenagers

One of the huge issues in the world/society is social media. Most teenagers are on their phones all the time; in school, in bed at night, when they go to the bathroom, while you are talking to them, and while they are trying to do their homework. There are so many social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Tumblr, and more. The popularity contests of childhood are online now and revolve around how many “likes” you get. A low number of “likes” typically translates into low social status, and possible shaming and bullying. A high number of “likes” translates to popularity and the pressure to sustain your status. Posting provocative selfies is not a demonstration of a teen girl’s agency over her own body. Flirting with the forbidden might be thrilling, but it is far from a reflection of her power and love of her body. Putting herself on public display simply screams, “Look, everyone, I’m sexy!” The reality is these girls are subjecting themselves and each other to body shaming - a game of who looks better than whom and who is being most provocative. They are also providing free pictures for porn sites. And guess what subject matter is most popular there? Teenage girls! With the amplification of a sexualized sense of self-coupled with the external search for validation, what chance do these children have of learning how to deeply connect with themselves and others and to develop the life coping skills they will need as whole people? I wish these kids could know that they are so much more than what is portrayed in a nude photo on the internet. I wish they could be as motivated to deeply know themselves as they are to gathering superficial “likes” online.

Short Story Writing

09-28-17
AN UPSIDE-DOWN HOUSE (Brokenness and Love)

A young girl at age 3 starts a life of heartbreak believing her mother is dying and going to heaven where God is waiting she was told. Through seemingly insurmountable odds, including an abusive father, mother’s mental illness, and neglect and abandonment, she and her siblings manage to reach adulthood. Due to shame, there is no one they can turn to because their unspeakable experiences and distorted reality could not be shared with others outside the home. As a young mother, she hopes to rise above her past but faces a future of more strife and struggle. A baby diagnosed with a terminal illness, a premature infant, and other circumstances force her to relive her deep dread of loss, terror, and pain from long ago. Experiencing more heartbreak, she turns away from God whose relationship she had grown to fear. She is convinced either God doesn’t know her, or he doesn’t care. When hope is impossible, faith is unheard of, and trust is nonexistent, there is only one way out.

Space

A Polish mathematician and astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus discovered the planet Earth. Before Copernicus' ideas, people thought that the other planets, stars and the Sun rotated around the Earth. Ancient astronomers found that the planets wouldn't follow a straight path in the sky but would instead continually move forward, stop then move backwards, which caused the Greek astronomer Ptolemy to hypothesise that the planets are spherical in shape and rotate in small circles while moving around the Earth. Copernicus' model went against this belief and took years to be recognised by the scientific community. As the only known planet that is habitable for human beings, the Earth’s importance is self-evident. Every living organism known to science obtains all of its resources from Earth, and has very few other options available. Without the Earth, humans would be doomed to extinction, unless they were able to adapt to another planet's conditions before the Earth disappeared.

Arthropods

An arthropod is an invertebrate animal having an exoskeleton, a segmented body, and paired jointed appendages. Arthropods form the phylum Arthropoda, which includes insects, arachnids, myriapods, and crustaceans.

Arachnid Arthropods are a class of joint-legged invertebrate animals, in the subphylum Chelicerata. All arachnids have eight legs, although the front pair of legs in some species has converted to a sensory function.

Insect Arthropods are by far the largest group of hexapod invertebrates within the arthropod phylum. Definitions and circumscriptions vary; in one approach insects comprise a class within the Phylum Arthopoda.

Crustacean Arthropods Crustaceans form a large, diverse arthropod taxon which includes such familiar animals as crabs, lobsters, crayfish, shrimp, krill, woodlice and barnacles.

The 4 Movements of Arts

4 Movements of Arts

1. Kowhaiwhai is Maori history as recorded by Maori. The patterns painted on the ridgepole represent the tribal genealogy. The main line of descent begins with the founding ancestor. On the rafters, patterns represent the diverging branches of the family.
